When I created Get Out, I didn't just want to fill a gap. I wanted to build something transformative — a space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies to connect meaningfully away from traditional platforms' noise, distractions, and frustrations. This is for me, you, and anyone who has ever felt like they didn't belong in the spaces they were given.

For too long, we've relied on tools and spaces that, while created for us, have stopped serving our deeper needs. Dating apps, once revolutionary, have become transactional, unsafe and often toxic. Gay bars, though still vital, have dwindled in numbers, with more people opting for at-home hookups over meaningful connections. We deserve more. Get Out is for everyone ready to reimagine how we connect, grow, and thrive as a community — with intention and heart.

1. LGBTQIA+ Individuals (and Allies) Who Feel Alone in Crowded Cities

Living in a city, it's easy to believe connections are limitless. Yet, many of us often experience a different reality: isolation in a sea of faces. Social media and dating apps often promise connection but leave us feeling emptier than before. The curated lives, endless swiping, and transactional interactions can amplify loneliness.

A report by The Conversation highlighted that very few LGBTQIA+ people feel connected to sports or group activities, often missing out on the camaraderie and belonging these bring. At Get Out, we aim to change that by creating real opportunities to connect — not just online but through shared interests and meaningful moments.

2. Those Craving More Than the Status Quo

Let's face it: dating apps can feel like a game. Swiping endlessly. Navigating unwanted messages, unsolicited photos, and sometimes outright rudeness. Over time, many of us become disheartened or even desensitised.

I know I did. Sometimes, I turned to apps out of boredom or needing validation, only to feel worse afterwards. It wasn't healthy. It wasn't fulfilling. At Get Out, we want to give people an alternative — a place to find like-minded souls without commodifying ourselves or our relationships.

Research supports this shift. CBS News reports that "slowmance" — intentional, slower-paced connections — is gaining traction as people crave deeper bonds. Get Out was designed to nurture these kinds of connections.

3. LGBTQIA+ Individuals in Regional Areas

Living outside major cities comes with its own challenges. Community support can feel far away, and it's easy to feel left out of the broader LGBTQIA+ culture. But just because you live in a regional area doesn't mean you shouldn't have access to vibrant connections and meaningful spaces.

Get Out strives to bridge this gap, offering tools and platforms to help people connect no matter where they are. It's about ensuring no one feels like they have to choose between living where they love and finding a community that loves them back.

4. LGBTQIA+ Couples Seeking Platonic Connections

Not every platform is built with couples in mind, especially those seeking friendships rather than intimacy. For many, the complexities of navigating dating apps as a couple can feel uncomfortable or even isolating.

At Get Out, we focus on fostering connections beyond the bedroom. Whether it's finding friends for game nights, workout buddies, or just someone to share a coffee with, our goal is to create a community where everyone feels welcome — no matter their relationship status.

5. Anyone Fed Up with Social Media and Its Algorithms

Social media used to feel like a vibrant hub of creativity, connection, and authenticity. But today, it's a maze of AI-generated content, relentless ads, and influencers vying for attention. Worse, for LGBTQIA+ individuals, it can feel like another arena where our identities are commodified.

A recent study by the LGBTQIA+ Perception Index showed that many in our community feel disillusioned with mainstream social platforms. They cite a lack of authenticity and increasing commercialisation. Get Out offers a different approach that values real people, conversations, and connections.

A Space for Change

Get Out isn't just a platform; it's part of a movement. A declaration that we're done feeding into the systems that make us feel less than. It's about creating something better, together.

Our community has always been resourceful, making the best of what's available. But we can do more than adapt — we can innovate, lead, and build. That's the spirit of Get Out. It's a space where we show up for each other, not just with likes and emojis but with genuine care, participation, and presence.

So, if you're tired of the status quo, ready for something different, and craving a community that feels like home, we're here. This is the start of something special. And we'd love for you to be part of it.
